About Piano Academy of Þorsteinn Gauti
The Piano Academy of Þorsteinn Gauti was founded in 2002. Initially, it was located at Grensásvegur 5 in a small space, but in 2006, it moved to a nearly 200 square meter floor at Ármúli 38, where teaching is conducted in four spacious classrooms.
The classrooms are equipped with keyboards in addition to a traditional piano. In keyboard rooms, headphones are sometimes used so students do not disturb each other when 2-6 students are together in class, but private lessons are also offered. This includes a hall that can seat about 80 people. There is a fairly large grand piano used for teaching and also for concerts within the school.
The number of teachers at the school has varied over time. From three to seven people. Larger concerts are usually held outside the school twice a year; Christmas concerts and spring concerts in addition to smaller concerts within the school. Piano Academy of Þorsteinn Gauti teaches according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education. Teaching is also done by ear, and the aim is to make the education personalized and as enjoyable as possible.
The Principal is Þorsteinn Gauti Sigurðsson
